Dear
Fellow Citizens of Orem City,
On
the desk of my office sits an old glass Jif peanut butter
jar filled with small pieces of worn-down chalk. My grandfather
gave me the jar a few years before he passed away. Each piece
of chalk in the jar was one my grandfather used to mark his employee
number on the boxes of fruit he picked in the agriculturally-rich
fields of my youth. The jar stands as a reminder to me of
all my grandfather did then to build a future I enjoy now.
Building a future for those who will follow us is what we all should
try our very best to do now – that is why I am running for the Orem
City Council.
Choosing the right person to act as your representative
in shaping the future of Orem is serious business. You will
have the opportunity to select three people to do so. We have
good candidates who bring good life experience to the table.
These are the unique qualifications which I will offer as your representative
on the Orem City Council:
- Over 15 years experience in city government as a former
city attorney and as a professor of state and local government
law
- Graduate of, assistant dean and faculty member for, two
of the most prestigious and respected graduate schools in the
nation: BYU’s J. Reuben Clark Law School and the Marriott
School of Management
- Research and teaching experience focused on cutting-edge
issues which impact cities
- Expertise in city finance, land use development, economic
development, redevelopment, public safety and transportation
I believe I have the vision, knowledge and experience
to help the City of Orem build the exciting future which is ahead
of us. I respectfully ask for your vote on Election Day.
Sincerely,

Carl Hernandez
